Michael leads software venture investing for GE Digital and GE Ventures. His ventures team focuses on the industrial uses of: big data, IoT, edge computing, cyber security, machine intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The Digital Industrial Portfolio includes: Maana, Bit Stew (acquired), Ayasdi, Mocana, DataTorrent, Snappy Data, FogHorn, Equalum, IoTium, Morphisec, Thetaray, mPrest, Pivotal and ServiceMax (acquired).
Michael joined GE from LG Electronics, where he led venture capital and innovation activities. Prior to that, he led the venture capital groups at Orange, 3Com, and IBM. Earlier, he co-founded an award winning mobile internet startup and sold it to Earthlink. Mike began his investment career at Kleiner Perkins and Greylock. His early investments include: Juniper, Extreme, Epigram, Macromind, Trilogy, and Netezza. He has held positions in research, engineering, product management, sales, marketing, business development and M&A. He began his career at Xerox PARC. Michael holds an MBA from Wharton, as well as an MS in Artificial Intelligence and BS from Stanford.
