Each day, more than 2.5 quintillion bytes of data is generated. This number is growing sharply as more and more devices come online. Today, there is an imperative to analyze this data in order to quickly filter out the important and turn the rest into actionable insights that drive operational value and business agility. New approaches are required for today’s real-time, high-stakes applications. Fog moves analytics to the source of the data, enabling real-time processing and instantaneous action. Rather than moving massive amounts of raw data, the fog system sorts and indexes the data locally, and sends just alerts and exceptions back to the cloud. This panel will discuss how fog works in relation to cloud-based and on-premise analytics and how it works in machine learning environments.
